charlotte jane archet . she's got her head up in the clouds.
♠ Name: charlotte jane archet . ♠ Blood: pureblood . ♠ Age & Year: fourteen && fourth . ♠ Gender: witch . ♠ Best Subject: magical marine biology . ♠ Worst Subject: transfiguration . ♠ Classes: potions, charms, transfiguration, defense against the dark arts, magical marine biology . ♠ Appearance: Thanks to magic, most people who see Charlotte think, after doing a root check, that Charlotte must be a natural blond. She isn't, though; her hair was a very plain brown her whole childhood, and it was really only natural for her to want to change it to a more head-turning colour, due to her personality. It is her favourite physical part of her, and hanging down to a bit past her shoulders, it is straight and well-cared for. Not exactly ruler-straight, as there are suttle waves and curls here and there that give it more, shall we say, personality, but it is definitely well-cared for to every extent of that word - never does she allow anyone to see it if it's not shining and perfect.
Charlotte isn't vain or really concerned about any other part of her. She got into the habit, at one point, of putting on make-up, and she's never really bothered to get out of that habit. The style depends on her mood. There are days when she'll show up looking dark and dramatic, and others where she'll show up with some ridiculous colour of eyeshadow on that makes everybody stop and stare.
Charlotte's complexion is clear and tanned, her lips are soft, rosy pink, and all of this along with her blond hair make her look like a Barbie. Well, she would look like a Barbie, only her build is quite different from the doll's, of course. First of all, she has a rather round face, which will always, no matter how thin she is, look somewhat plump. She has high cheek bones, and clear blue eyes a bit on the large side. She's not very tall, standing at about 5'3, and she weighs about 110 pounds. She's not really classified as 'slender' or even 'thin,' but this can easily be blamed on the facr that she's just built rather roundish. That doesn't mean she's, er, large-chested. She's not. She's barely got any chest at all. Not that it's any of your business.
As for clothes, underneath her plain black school robes she wears 'vintage' tees and skinny jeans, having been taken in by the recent retro trend. She wears Converse shoes, usually, and when she's not at school can be seen with iPod headphones in her ears. She doesn't really put much thought into what she wears, though. 'Oh, this looks nice,' is about the most she ever thinks about a new pair of a pants, a new t-shirt, a new sweater. ♠ Personality: Charlotte is a lot of things, when it comes to personality. She's known to baffle strangers, friends, and even her own family. If you ever think you've got her figured out, you'd better prepare to be disappointed. This may be intentional, too. If someone gets really close to her, and starts to unravel the mysteries surrounding her, she usually all of a sudden experiences a drastic change in attitude, in habits, or even, at times, in appearance. It's hard to find a motive for why Charlotte might do this, but it could simply be for her own amusement. Then again, it could be deeper than that -- maybe she's got a fear of people getting to close. That's highly unlikely, though, if you look at how affectionate she is towards people she likes and how upbeat she usually is. It's much, much more likely that she enjoys confusing people.
Somehow, despite being life's biggest mystery, Charlotte manages to be a simple, open person. She's affectionate, as mentioned before, to anyone who's kind to her, really. Strangers who pass her in the street with a smile are rewarded with one twice as big, fellow students who hold the door open for her can expect a letter of thanks and some sort of candy (she has an information network that's spread through the entire school, so she can find out anybody's favourite candy, if she justs asks a few people), and friends and family are always, always treated well. She has very few enemies, and those people get nothing more than a few harsh thoughts, and ignored. There's something about Charlotte that's quite charming, and has made her quite popular. She has this air of innocence about her, even though she's just an average teenage girl, getting herself in the same kind of trouble as all her classmates are. It's true, she is slightly naive, and even a little bit clueless, at times, especially when it comes to the opposite sex, but it's really nothing major, and something only her parents really know about, as they've seen the danger it can bring, despite it being minor.
Her naiveté lies in being too trusting, as it always does. Charlie just doesn't expect anyone to want to do anything bad, and, not expecting it, never suspects it. This is one of her biggest flaws, and is worsened by the absent-mindedness that runs alongside of it. Charlotte could easily be described as 'spacey,' if you wanted to use a word like that. Scatter-brained, she is, although it's not that she's got a bad memory, it's that she's very easily distracted. She's been tested for ADD, but she hasn't got it, apparently. She just daydreams way too much.
Charlie's actually very smart, when it comes to books and such. She tests especially well, so she doesn't need to study all that much. For some reason things people say to her stick in her memory very well, and things she reads even more. It's another mystery about her, where all these things she's heard and read fit in her mind, but she's got room for everywhere in that blond head of hers. Charlotte's not a dumb blond. She's book smart, and whereas she may be absent-minded, you couldn't honestly call her stupid. She's quick when it comes to jokes and things like that, and has trained herself to be especially wary about tricks people might try to pull on her to prove that she is a stereotypical blond.
Such are the major personality traits of Charlotte, but being a quirky person, there are many intriguing little things about her that can be mentioned about her. For one thing, she's very fond of nicknames, and assigns one to all of her friends -- or really, everyone she meets -- whether they like it or not. And she insists that other people should call her by a nickname, be it Charlie, Chuck, Shay, or whatever they can come up with, as long as it's not Charlotte. It's not that she hates her name. It's that she hates the way her name ALMOST rhymes with her last name.
Another interesting little personality trait of Charlie's is her love of everything and anything cute. From animals to pictures to desserts to people, she's drawn to them with a strange magnetism that never fails to hold her in its grasp. She's not embarassed to express herself when she thinks something is cute, and sometimes her squeals are rather scary. This is the only explanation that can be given for her love of pigtails and braids and other such quaint hairstyles, common among little girls. ♠ History: The only daughter of a rich, ancient pureblood couple, Charlotte has had a rather over-protected life. However, her father was determined not to let her become too soft or too spoiled, so he raised her in a very strange way, as he really really wanted to protect her from everything and give her everything she wanted. The result was the girl that Charlie is today, naive, but not spoiled, at least. Having seen that their daughter had turned out to be too trusting, Mr and Mrs Archet have a house elf whose only job is to watch over Charlotte and keep her out of trouble. Unfortunately, this has never sat well with the teenage girl, so the house elf is forced to live in hiding, secretly watching her and always ready to get help if trouble arises. Charlie's not the only one who thinks that's creepy. ♠ Ten Characteristics: -- scatter brained . -- naive . -- affectionate . -- book smart . -- trusting . -- self-confident . -- cutesy . -- confusing . -- clueless (when it comes to love) . -- charming .
