♠ Name: Demetrius Jason Xander ♠ Blood: Halfblood ♠ Age: 39 ♠ Gender: Wizard ♠ Subject: DADA ♠ Best Subject: DADA, Potions ♠ Worst Subject: Divination, Magical Marina Biology ♠ Appearance: Despite his age, Xander has kept his body in pretty good shape. His frame of 6'1 has a medium build that doesn't brag of musculature but has a hidden strength that is not easily matched. He has a fair complexion, with semi-long, curly light brown hair that tumbles in layers to just above his shoulders and frames his face, parted neatly down the middle. Xander likes the curls in his hair, so he usually has it gelled to preserve the natural waves and spirals all day long. As far as facial hair goes, Xander likes to keep a bristly moustache that is rather bronze in colour, as well as facial hair that covers his chin and lower jawline in short, bristly hairs.
Xander has small, deep-set eyes with low eyebrows, giving him a very direct gaze. He has low cheekbones and a long, thin nose. His eyes have a light olive-tones hue that is comforting to stare into, unless of course they are sharp with anger.
In school, the professor will be wearing a set of robes, which vary in light or dark earthy, natural colours. Outside of school he can be caught wearing everyday comfortable clothing, but his favourite muggle outfit to wear is the suit, which he will try to wear to anything that comes close to accept more formal clothing. Even if it's just an informal suit, he's happy. ♠ Personality: Professor Xander believes that the direct, harsh and strict way to teach is the most ineffective style that he's ever come across. From his years of teaching, he has learned to be calm and patient, even when the class is rioting out of control. He'll simply wait out the storm, watching and observing the students that are the center of trouble, and hands out detentions and extra work that was missed after class. This usually encourages the other students who listen to make the troublemakers shut up, for they would be getting that extra work as well. Even the detentions are a good incentive to keep your mouth shut, for the Professor does not deal out lines. The detentions can range from the disgusting to the most physically demanding. He also teases the most disruptive or lazy students, often making light jokes about them in front of the class. He does this with a lot of people though, so the students know not to take him too seriously, but his wit can be sharp and sometimes simply hysterical. When a student retorts to him, or talks back, he'll turn the tables immediately with something sarcastic or cynical, and only the more clever ones can keep this going back and forth and keep the score tied.
When teaching, he makes his points come out clearly and simply, so they are easy to take note of and remember. When dealing when large amounts of information, he breaks it down into small chunks for the students to process, and often makes relations and comparison to other things that the students are already familiar with for better comprehension. He repeatedly asks the students themselves to explain some concept to him to make sure that they've got it, and hands out quizzes every few classes to keep his pupils on their toes.
Outside of class, Xander isn't very much different. He is still quiet and observant, though he is more easy-going when not teaching. He enjoyed a good book, and loves to discuss anything that would take some clever thinking to win his side of the argument. He is still quite sarcastic and sharp-tongued as ever, but he is more enjoyable to hang around with as a friend, for he'll just sit back and entertain from behind the scenes with his witty words. ♠ History: 'Tis a mystery. ♠ Ten Characteristics: ¬ Calm ¬ Observant ¬ Cynical ¬ Sarcastic ¬ Logical ¬ Dedicated ¬ Easy-Going ¬ Open-minded ¬ Literary ¬ Witty
